K'NEX Lighthouse

Lighthouses are used to help boats at sea to know their location. This K'NEX Lighthouse has its own flashing light, just like the real thing.

The model can be built using:

1. A K'NEX Base kit…

2. A K'NEX battery motor (any colour, but the medium-speed blue or green motor works best)…

3. A small torch.

First, assemble the twenty 3D connectors shown in the photo opposite.

Please visit Handy Hint A4 if you need help to do this.

Then build the base….

…and add 8 red rods to it.

Then build the motor platform…

…make four red connector assemblies…

…and add them to the motor platform.

Add orange connectors to 8 red rods…

…and attach them to the top of the motor platform.

Build the torch platform…

…and attach it at the top.

Assemble the driving axle by adding to a grey rod:

1. A snap cap black.
2. A white connector.
3. The motor.
4. Two white connectors.
5. A blue spacer.
6. A tan clip with the pin facing towards the end of the rod.

Then fit the driving axle into the lighthouse as shown.

Now find a way to attach your small torch onto the top of a white connector.

As you can see, we have used a rubber band to hold our torch in place.

Place the white connector supporting the torch onto the top of the grey rod, so that the pin of the tan clip fits into one of the small holes at the centre of the white connector.
