If you have lost the instruction book for your K'NEX set, please visit

Our
Free downloads
page includes a few free K'NEX instruction sheets, and our
Technology 2 enjoy
website also has K'NEX instruction books available to buy.
The Instruction Books are mainly pictorial, and are designed:
To help you to get started with K'NEX and/or Kid K'NEX, if you haven't used it before.
To allow you to build a number of standard models from instructions.
Small sets include instructions for only a limited range of models, whereas the larger general-purpose sets contain instructions for dozens of models. Model complexity and time-to-build also vary considerably between sets. The smaller sets generally include instructions for simple models, which can take 15-60 minutes to build, whereas some of the larger sets include instructions for very large and sophisticated models, which may take a number of days to complete.
Building models from instructions is great fun, and in an educational setting an instruction-based approach will help students to develop a better understanding of technology, as well as developing their "making skills" and co-ordination skills.
The User Group is quite often asked "What do we do once we have built all the models from the instructions that came with our set?". There are a number of possibilities:
You can use the K'NEX set for "free play", and let students decide for themselves what they want to build. This approach is valuable for younger children, for instance when using Kid K'NEX. However, it provides limited educational "added value" for older children.
You can obtain photos for extra K'NEX models, that your students can then build (see "Models to Build" links at the top of this page).
You can use your K'NEX to set your students "K'NEX challenges", as described on the
Challenges
page.
