K'NEXPO 2009 seminars across the UK in Jan/Feb

Purpose of seminars:
  • To allow teachers and educators to share their experience of using K'NEX and Kid K'NEX effectively in settings such as nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools, FE/HE, family learning and childcare


  • To bring delegates up to date with some exciting new developments in the K'NEX and Kid K'NEX world for 2009
Who are the seminars for? Anyone who is using, or planning to use, K'NEX or Kid K'NEX for educational purposes, including primary school teachers, secondary school teachers, post-16 educators, SEN staff, family learning practitioners, children's club leaders and staff working in childcare. No prior experience with K’NEX is required, and you definitely do not need to be "good at technology"!

Each seminar lasts half a day, with the following Agenda:

10.00 K’NEX and Kid K'NEX in 2009Learn about exciting new developments in the K'NEX world, including the low-cost K'NEXtension pack, equipment to build simple K'NEX and Kid K'NEX robots, new K'NEX education sets, and additional free resources
10.30 Practical session 1Build a remote-controlled Kid K'NEX vehicle
10.45 Building simple robots with K'NEX and Kid K'NEXUsing a range of affordable electronic control boxes
11.15 Making your K'NEX go furtherIdeas for gaining greater use from your K'NEX and Kid K'NEX, in different education settings and in more curriculum areas
11.30 Practical session 2Having fun with the K’NEXtension pack
11.45 Discussion groupsDelegates will be able to join discussion groups to share their experiences of using K'NEX and Kid K'NEX, and to discuss the new developments for 2009

The seminar will be delivered by Andy Shercliff of the K'NEX User Group. Andy has been working with K'NEX since 1996 across a wide range of educational settings and curriculum areas. His experience in this field is unique.

Delegates will work in small groups for the practical sessions. These are light-hearted and enjoyable as well being informative.

Each delegate will take home free samples of K'NEX and Kid K'NEX, and a CDROM containing lots of free resources for K'NEX and Kid K'NEX and copies of the seminar slides.
